Sevi accommodated us and even helped us get transportation to and from the farm. We were met with an incredible view of the mountainous Cretan countryside and two adorable puppies, followed by a tour of the family garden, getting to feed/pet a donkey and goats, and picking fresh herbs for our meal. For the dinner, Sevi offered many recipes for us to choose from for a four course dinner (with a vegetarian option). Sevi and her mother showed us traditional Cretan cooking methods, and we had an amazing time. The whole family was incredibly kind and welcoming. We highly recommend this unique and intimate experience.

Sevi immediately greeted us and gave us refreshments and then took us on an adventure of their farm. Everything we cooked or made that day came from their farm. We found snails, picked veggies and also played with the goats before the cooking started. Sevi also translated in English for her parents who only spoke Greek, but the love was universal. The entire family was amazing and her father personally helped me cook the snails and mom taught us how to make the desserts. The snail-eater was delighted that snails were available. After we'd eaten, we met the chickens (and were given 3 freshly laid eggs) and the donkey.

We asked our Airbnb hosts for a recommendation and they suggested Baxes Cretan Experience and we are so glad they did. Baxes is situated on a beautiful orchard of olive trees, overlooking the "Tuscany of Crete", surrounded by their garden, goats (you can feed), and all sorts of animals and fauna.

We were greeted by Savi, who is a wonderful host and ensured that our experience met all our needs. Unlike some cooking classes we have taken, we were able to choose from multiple menus (both for vegetarians and not) the meals that we prepared. They only use locally sourced foods, typically from their own homestead. All of this under the watchful eye of Katarina, or as we called her during our visit mom.

There was never a feeling of being rushed through the preparation, eating, or laughing with new friends. The wine from their vineyards complimented our meal perfectly. The home cultivated honey was an amazing addition to our dessert.

We all agreed that this experience will be one that is talked about for years to come. We may not remember what we ate, the exact recipes, or the names of the dishes we made but will always remember the way that this experience made us feel like οικογένεια (family) for an evening.

In the evening it got cold, the host was a bit harder to understand in the cold but when we got closer it all worked out great. There is also a nice play area for the kids. The kids played a lot of bowling games. They played all evening until they all won at least once. 100% recommend.
